Been waiting over 50 years to visit the station made famous in "The Railway Children" and to stand on the platform where Jenny Agatha and all the other cast included the amazing Bernard Cribbins filmed the scenes, was worth the wait. Will be back again in the summer.

Called in to see how it compared to the scenes in the Railway Children (1970). Met three incredibly helpful volunteers including the station master. Nothing was too much trouble

I work here sometimes as a volunteer crossing keeper. We open and close the gates by hand . We try to recreate 1904 because that is when "The railway children was set which was filmed here.now we have a new tea hut.

Heritage railway run principle by volunteers. The location from the film the railway children. A visit was always on my wife's bucket list. Met couple of volunteers who took time to run through the station and history with us which will add considerably to the experience and understanding of the foundation of the industrial revolution which without the railways Britain could never have been great. It is a proud statement to our heritage. Well kept, well staffed and good value. Revisited August 24. Took journey on steam train. In renovated carriage. Well worth it for us andyoug grandson. There is a lot to see including static engines and information boards. Well done to the volunteers.still 5*
